Through staff visits, guided learning and cultural exchange, the charity gained insight into ellenor’s care model, wellbeing activities and sustainable practices. The learning directly informed improvements to Youth Ngage Kent’s Wellbeing Hub, including the introduction of indoor chair based exercises for older people.
A key outcome was improved community cohesion. Youth Ngage Kent delivered “Understanding the African Culture of Caring” workshops for ellenor staff, service users and guests, promoting cultural awareness, dignity and inclusion. As a result, awareness of ellenor’s services increased within the African community, helping more elderly people access support they were previously missing.
The Learning Journey Fund created mutual learning, stronger partnerships and lasting impact for both organisations and the wider community.
Yetunde Adeola, Project Director at Youth Ngage Kent said:
“It was a truly eye opening experience; impressed by the variety of support services offered - not just to service users, but also to the wider community. The grant has helped not only me, but also our staff, volunteers, our guests to learn know and gain helpful information about opportunities available.”
