New Gravesham fund seeking local residents to shape grant decisions

September 03, 2026

Residents taking part in a group discussion as part of a community decision-making panel

Apply by 15 September to join the Walker Family Fund Neighbourhood Panel.

Do you live in Gravesham and want to help shape local funding decisions? The new Walker Family Fund, established in partnership with Kent Community Foundation, is recruiting seven local residents to join its Neighbourhood Panel.

This is a unique opportunity to have a direct say in how funding is distributed to community organisations across Gravesham. The panel will help set the fund's priorities and make the final decisions on which projects receive support.

Panel members will receive training and support, be paid for their time, and can claim reasonable travel and childcare expenses. The role requires approximately 9-10 hours between October and January.

We're keen to hear from people who:

  • Live in Gravesham borough

  • Have an interest in local communities and the challenges they face

  • Can consider written information and different viewpoints

  • Feel comfortable contributing to group discussions

  • Respect differing opinions and work collaboratively

  • Understand the importance of confidentiality

  • Can commit around 9-10 hours between October and January

No previous grant-making experience is required.

Applications close on 15 September, with short online conversations taking place shortly afterwards.

For an informal chat or to request the short application form, contact natalie@kentcf.org.uk.
