Celebrating your impact

A guide to sharing your story.

Helping us tell your story

We love to shout about the amazing work you do! Sharing your stories and photos allows us to celebrate your success across our website, newsletters, impact reports, and social media.

By providing high-quality visuals, you help us show our donors exactly how their support is changing lives - which helps keep that support flowing. To help us showcase your project in the best possible light, please follow our "top tips" for capturing your impact.

What makes a great photo?

We want your photos to show the energy, heart and real impact of your project. The best images help donors feel connected to the people and communities you support.

1. Focus on people and connection

Photos are most powerful when they centre on the people involved - those taking part, delivering the project, or benefiting from it.

Look for moments that show expressions and emotion, people interacting and genuine connection.

These details help donors understand the difference your project is making.

2. Capture real action (not posed line ups)

Aim to capture moments of activity and togetherness. Natural, unposed shots feel more authentic and engaging.

3. Tell the story of your project

If your work involves equipment, tools, food, bikes, art materials - show them being used. Objects alone are just objects. Objects in action bring your project to life.

4. Show the positive impact

Images that reflect joy, pride, connection and community spirit are the ones that resonate most strongly with supporters and help demonstrate purposeful giving in action.

Quick tips for better photos

• Use the rule of thirds: Place subjects slightly to one side to create a natural, professional feel.

• Clean your lens: A quick wipe removes blur.

• Send the original file: Avoid WhatsApp or embedding in Word documents, which shrink quality.

• Check consent: Always ensure you have permission from anyone in the photo, especially children and vulnerable adults.

Bringing your stories to life

We are proud to share your stories with all our stakeholders, including our donors.

To bring what you do to life, a great case study will include:

  • Stories of real people’s experiences (anonymised if appropriate)

  • Photographs or videos

  • Statistics of the difference made

How to send us your stories and photos

When your grant is awarded, you will be sent an online monitoring form. Please fill this in using the above information as guidance.

There is an option to add photographs at the end or alternatively, you can send them via email. Please upload original .jpg or .png images.

We love receiving photos of your project in action too, so feel free to send us photos and updates before it has finished – thank you!

Pro tip: Take photos throughout the life of your project - not just at the end. This helps us tell a fuller “before and after” story about the difference your work is making in local communities.
