New look, same heart: strengthening Kent and Medway’s communities together

For a quarter-century, Kent Community Foundation has been finding, funding, and championing local grassroots voluntary organisations across Kent and Medway. Since 2001, we’ve grown from a local funder into a trusted grant maker, managing over 100 philanthropic funds and distributing more than £60 million to support those who need it most.

As we look ahead to the future, we felt it was time for our visual identity to reflect who we are today - and the ambitions we hold for the future.

Celebrating 25 Years of community impact

This refresh comes at a special moment. In our 25th year, we wanted a look that honours our history while embracing the energy and resilience that define our work today. Since our founding, we’ve become a vital part of Kent’s charitable landscape. Launching this new identity now allows us to celebrate this milestone with a brand that feels modern, approachable, and full of possibility.

Why now?

Our last visual refresh was in 2017. Since then, our organisation has grown and we are updating our look to better reflect who we are today. While we remain a trusted and welcoming partner, we also want our brand to reflect the bold and dynamic organisation we’ve become.

It started with a commitment to accessibility

The catalyst for this change was our dedication to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. We committed to an accessibility audit of our website because, for us, being a welcoming funder starts with being an accessible one. When we discovered our colours didn't meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards, we didn't just see a technical failure, we saw a barrier to our community. It is essential that everyone can engage with our resources easily and confidently.

And then… we saw an opportunity to grow

Accessibility was just the first step in a larger evolution. While fixing our colours was essential, it sparked a deeper conversation about who Kent Community Foundation is today and who we need to be for the next twenty-five years.

As we addressed these technical barriers, we asked ourselves a vital question: Does our brand truly reflect the communities we serve today?

To find the answer, we held a team branding day to reflect on our heritage and look toward our future. While we are proud to be approachable, trusted, and sincere, we recognised that the future requires us to be more. The grassroots organisations we fund are imaginative, optimistic, and resilient; to be their champion, our brand needed to match their spirit.

This rebrand is the bridge between our heritage and our aspirations. We haven't moved away from our roots; we have grown from them:

  • We are still your caring, credible, and community-oriented organisation: Our commitment to Kent and Medway’s everyday heroes and authentic community life remains unchanged.

  • We are now a bold steward: Our new visual identity is vibrant and joyful - reflecting the true joy of giving - while maintaining the professional credibility you expect from a twenty-five-year-old institution.

What’s changed (and what hasn’t)

Our new identity is rooted in connection and community. It creates a consistent experience across every touchpoint - from our website and newsletters to community events. It draws inspiration from Kent and Medway’s natural beauty and the warmth of its people, our look has evolved to meet the future.

You will notice:

  • The logo: We’ve kept our iconic Kent Oast Houses but given them a modern twist, using organic shapes to convey a welcoming, human touch.

  • The symbolism: A looped connection within the logo represents the vital link between generous donors and the frontline charities making a difference every day.

  • The feel: Professional yet approachable - reflecting our role as a trusted source of philanthropic advice and a deeply-rooted community partner.

  • The colours: A vibrant, fresh palette that is fully accessible and compliant, ensuring everyone can engage with our work easily and confidently.

  • Imagery: images that celebrates the diverse people of Kent and Medway.

While our look has changed, our purpose remains the same. We continue to champion local charities, empower grassroots groups, and help generous individuals and businesses make a meaningful, lasting impact. We are still the same Kent Community Foundation you know and trust - just more accessible and energised for the years ahead.

Looking forward

This refresh marks an exciting new chapter. By combining a modern, accessible identity with our long-standing values of trust and resilience, we are ready to inspire confidence and strengthen community connections for years to come.

We remain the same caring, committed team - now with a look that reflects the energy and ambition of the county we serve.

Ultimately, this evolution is about more than a new logo or higher-contrast colours; it is about ensuring that every individual, business, and grassroots group in Kent and Medway can see themselves in our work. We are building a brand that is as accessible as it is ambitious -because that is what it takes for a community to truly thrive.
