Grant-makers gather in Ashford

12th February 2018

The Kent Funders Forum was held in Ashford on 22nd January 2018. The forum, facilitated by Kent Community Foundation gathered key grant makers to discuss funding needs and common issues in Kent.

This year’s forum, hosted by Sir Roger De Haan, saw ten grant-makers represented to discuss two main issues; mental health and core support.  Natalie Smith, Director of Grants and Impact highlighted the main elements of our Core Support pilot project, the lack of provisions in Kent and how changing statutory provisions has led to an increase in applications from mental health charities. Victoria Westhorp from The Office for Civil Society gave an overview of the Government strategy on loneliness. The discussion was lively and positive and plans were put in motion for a project surrounding mental health in the Folkestone area lead by the Roger De Haan Charitable Trust. The forum will now meet on an annual basis.

KCF and Sir Roger De Haan first established an informal Kent Funders Forum in 2015 bringing together locally-based funders and charitable trusts for cross-referrals, informal support, and best practice discussion. The event resulted in our multi-year NEET’s project.
