Our Charitable Legacy Service

The gift that keeps on giving

We have developed our bespoke Charitable Legacy Service to offer donors an innovative way of actively supporting their local community beyond their lifetime. This is similar to our Named Funds, but specifically for legacies.

This Legacy Service enables you to tell us exactly how you wish your charitable legacy to be put to good use in the local community. And it couldn’t be simpler.

Step 1:

You simply leave a straightforward charitable legacy to Kent Community Foundation in your will.
See sample will and codicil wording.

Step 2:

You create a 'Letter of Wishes', such as this sample shows, to tell us exactly how you wish KCF to manage your legacy, including:

  • Whether you want to use your gift to set up a legacy fund in your own name or other name of your choosing
  • Particular causes you want to prioritise, such as disadvantaged young people
  • The geographical reach of your gift e.g. Kent-wide or a particular local area
  • The names of any specific charities you would like to support, such as your local hospice
  • Whether you would like family or friends involved in grant-making decisions

You can amend your ‘Letter of Wishes’ with KCF whenever you like, which means you can change your mind as often as you wish without having to re-write your will.

Leave a legacy; the gift that keeps on giving

This simple process gives you peace of mind that your legacy to the local community will be effectively managed by KCF, according to your wishes, in perpetuity if that is what you want. Unlike other charitable legacies that are spent either immediately or within a year or two, your legacy can be invested as an endowment fund that will generate income to support local causes year after year, so that your lasting gift to the people and communities of Kent will be remembered forever.

If you have any questions, or would like to discuss setting up a named legacy fund, please contact our Development Team by email or on 01303 814 500. All discussions are without obligation and will remain confidential.
