The Need:

Many of their customers live alone and do not go out on a social day at all making social isolation a growing problem.  Community Car Service’s social inclusion days gives them the opportunity to have a day out and meet new people.

The Difference Made:

Following the success of both the seaside and Christmas lunch social inclusion projects, many of their customers asked if something could be arrange for the spring as there is a long time between projects and that they really looked forward to going out for the day meeting new people. Community Car Service wanted to take their customers somewhere different to the other projects and decided on Teapot Island as it is well known locally, has an interesting museum boasting 7,600 teapots and a very good café. The sunny weather allowed them to sit and watch the river as they enjoyed their cream teas.

As she tucked into her Knickerbocker glory at Teapot Island, Mrs B said; “I hardly ever gets out now that I have had to stop driving.” This is a perfect example of how this project can reduces social isolation.
